Four graduate students selected to investigate the future of offshore wind in New Jersey

The Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment has selected four graduate students from across Princeton to participate in the 2023-2024 New Jersey Wind Institute Fellowship.

The selected fellows will carry out research projects to tackle timely challenges facing the growing offshore wind industry, from characterizing winds in coastal boundary layers to understanding the resilience of offshore wind technologies to extreme weather events along the Atlantic coast.

Onshore Work For Ocean Wind 1 To Begin At Island Beach State Park

More onshore work for New Jersey's first offshore wind farm is set to begin on Oct. 10, according to developer Orsted.

This work for the Ocean Wind 1 project consists of cables coming ashore at Island Beach State Park and connecting to the Lanoka substation at the former Oyster Creek power plant site.

Wind Farm Substation Work Begins In Lacey: What To Expect

As of Oct. 2, work for the onshore portion of the Ocean Wind 1 offshore wind farm has begun in Lacey Township.

The work is for what is called the Lanoka substation, which is located at the former Oyster Creek power plant and will be used to connect the energy generated by the wind turbines to the power grid on land.

Wind will Bring Thousands of Labor Jobs to New Jersey

The Board of Public Utilities announced in March that the project will contribute $4.7 billion into the Garden State’s economy and create more than 10,000 new jobs in the process. For workers, this means good paying opportunities to not only build the wind farms, but also maintain them and keep them running, doing our part to help New Jersey make the transition to clean energy.
